NOTE: In Sikafis Compendium of Confederate Armies-South Carolina and Georgia, this regiment is listed as #185 11th Georgia Infantry-State Guard. This is probably because Captain MacIntyre was in command of a State Guard Infantry Battalion (69th Georgia Militia) and in the summer of 1863 with a of man power, it was changed to a Cavalry regiment. To further expand on the origins of this unit these notes on their officers prior assignments are given: Maclntyre's Battalion, Georgia State Guards, A. T. MacIntyre, Maj., Decatur Squadron, Georgia State Guards: Patrick A. McGriff, Capt., and a company appears to have served in an independent company of infantry and rolls have been so filed. It is believed the regiment was mustered out by spring of 1864.
